Set It Off- Horrible Kids Cd Release Show;

We got to the venue around 4:30 and the doors didn’t open until 5:30. We waited in line with some of the people I met at their last show, Katie and Laura. So, we’re waiting and waiting. Andrew comes outside and says hi and we saw him long enough to give him the cookies I made the other day. He was pretty stoked. Then Zach came out and came up to us and asked how we were doing and hi fived us all. It was the first time I ever really talked to him at a show. He was really nice. Then about ten minutes later the rest of the guys came out and walked down the line to see how many people showed up. This guy was handing out flyers for something and Brea (my brothers girlfriend) was like “Gimme one!” and she was like “I’m going to write a note to Andrew on it about your presale.” And she seriously did. She asked him to tell Maxx to save me a drumstick after the show since I didn’t get my preorder. Andrew was poking his head outside and she was like “ANDREW, COME HERE I HAVE A NOTE FOR YOU!” He said he had to do something but would be back. A few minutes later he came out long enough to get the note and then went back inside. We could see him through the doors, he held onto it. 

They finally opened the doors at 5:45 and let us all in. This Orpheum is much nicer than the other one in my opinion. I love it. We got seats like right in front of the stage. So, we sat there as the opening band, Air Like Oceans, set up. My sister and my cousin went to the merch table to give Andrew bracelets that had made him, and Maxx was over there as well. Since he needed to get his Blink ticket from me I decided to let him find me. I was too lazy to get up anyway. Brea wanted me to get Maxx’s number or wanted him to text me so she took the envelope that the Blink ticket was in and wrote him a long note telling him to text me. So, in giant bold letters it said “TEXT JESSIE” and it was also like “we should meet up” and it had my number on it and everything.

 Sooo I’m sittin’ there with my friend Sam and Becky comes up from behind me and goes “Maxx is talking to mom!” and she was sitting right behind me. So, I put my head down…for some reason. And Becky was like “I’m hiding her! She’s not here!” and tried covering me.

Maxx come up next to me and like poked my side and goes “Hi!” and hugged me. It was pretty great. He started talking about the new Orpheum and asked if we liked it better than the other one. He said he likes it a lot more just because it’s bigger. Then he commented on how we were all drinking water…yeah. Then he takes out his wallet and is like “I have the money for the Blink ticket!” he pulls out this wad of cash and hands it to me. He’s like “I think it’s all there…I was really tempted to convert it all into pennies…but that would’ve been mean.” I was like…”should I count it…are you ripping me off?” and he was like “Yeah! Count it!” I said I did but I didn’t I was too lazy. It’s summer. I’m not doing math. Then before I could give him his ticket, Becky and Brooke handed him bracelets they made him. He was stoked and asked me to tie them on his wrist for him. He was like “I’m just gonna keep coming back so you can tie the bracelets on for me.” and I looked at his wrist and go “Hmm..you seem to have misplaced the bracelet I gave you…” and his excuse was he had to take them all off a few days ago..or it came undone or something. But, he was all “I’m still wearing the check it out bracelet though!” and he was still wearing the Blink bracelet Danielle gave him. Then he was like “I’ll be right back!”, hugged us all, and walked away.

Then Austin came over and hugged us and so did Dan. I had to put their bracelets on their wrists too. djfghdfjgh. Austin like hugged me for a solid minute and it was awkward because I was sitting down and he’s so tall. So, Air Like Oceans played their set. They’re pretty good and they’ve opened for Set It Off before. They covered ‘First Date’ by Blink 182 and ohmygod Maxx was standing in the pit talking to people and he would start singing along it was the cutest thing. After their set was done, Becky found him by the merch table and told him it’d be really funny if he left without getting his Blink ticket from me.

He comes back over to where I’m sitting and goes…”You know, I totally just gave you $83 for no reason, that’s cool. I feel like I’m missing something….” And I go “Oh, are you missing some money maybe?” and he’s like “…or a ticket…” and I was like “Oh, that sucks.” and he goes “Yeah…so my ticket…” and I go “Yeah, the tickets are doing well.” he’s like “that’s good…can I have it?” and then Katie and her group came over and started talking about how he was rockin’ out to the First Date cover. He said that the 12 year old Maxx is gonna come out at the Blink show. And then proceeded to ask me on a scale of 1 to 38 how excited am I to see Blink and My Chemical Romance. He asked who all was going…he was like “I’m going! *points to me* she’s going!” and Brea is all “I’m going too!” and he high fived her. Then he was like “Soo my ticket…” and Brea was like “Read my note!” and he’s like “You wrote me a note?! I wanna read it!” and I go “Okay, you can read the note.” And I took the ticket out of the envelope and handed him the envelope. He was like “RUDE!” and then he read it and smiled and goes “Yes and yes!” 

He kept asking for it and I told him we were going to keep him there as long as we possibly could and he goes “Should I bring a board game over here? Will we have time?” kdfjgldf He also told me that he saw the site that I made for them and he said it was really neat and that he really liked it. then after a while….we finally agreed on how he would get his ticket. He told me he’d give me a drumstick after the show in exchange for the ticket.


After all that he hugged us and left. The other opening bands played. I really liked Christian TV and Breathe Electric’s sets. They were so good. dkjghdfjg  After their sets the Millionaires were setting up their stage and everything. Just before they went on Maxx walked past me and like ruffled my hair kdfghjfgh okay. And then Austin came up to me and poked my nose…

The Millionaires. I’m not gonna say anything about them except that I had ear plugs in and they were selling condoms at their merch table. Okay. Okay. After their set was over we bought Breathe Electric and Christian TV’s cds. 

Then Set It Off went on and it was seriously the best SIO show I’ve attended. It was so cool seeing the crowd get so into their set. Normally, the crowd doesn’t really sing along very well or anything. But, last night…the crowd sang every word and I honestly got the chills. I didn’t get any good pictures because my camera was being stupid and I couldn’t find the right settings to use. So I gave up. They played every song on Horrible Kids in order and then played 143. During Missing You kdjgfgh oh my god. Cody was so into that song. His girlfriend, Courtney, was standing right in front of me and she was crying. Cody kept making eye contact with her and made a kissy face it was just the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. Then when their set was through, they got an encore and played Pages & Paragraphs.

So, the show was over. We sat there to see if Maxx was going to come back for his ticket. But, he didn’t. He was handing out broken drumsticks to people. And I got bummed because I didn’t see him holding any, and he promised me one. We walked over to where he was standing and he’s like weaving his way through people to get to us from the merch table. He’s like “Here, I got you a broken drumstick, a cd, a sticker, and a necklace. That’s the best I could do.” and hands it all to me. dkfjghdkf I was just saying thank you over and over again. And I’m like “I guess you can have your Blink ticket now….” and he’s like “I think I earned it!” I held it out but kept pulling it away from him because I’m stupid. I gave it to him and he was like thank you thank you! and hugged me. And I told him I felt bad because it looked like he had handed me everything in his wallet earlier and he’s like “Yeah, I have a dollar left. I had to save up!” and then he told me that he was upset that we didn’t bring ‘Cinnabon’ with us. dkjfghkjdfhg  

We made our way into the line to meet Cody and it was in front of the merch table. Andrew was like “Jessie! We didn’t get to talk about your presale!” and I told him Maxx gave me all the stuff and he was like “You didn’t get a shirt though! Seriously! Anything you see here, you can have it. It really sucks that out of all people you didn’t get it. Because not a lot of fans know us like you do.” and he apologized about ten times. And while I was talking to Andrew the girl standing with him was like “YOU NEED TO GET THAT DRUMSTICK SIGNED!” and she like called Maxx over there and was like “MAXX SIGN THIS.” and I told her it was fine and I was gonna talk to him again before I left. Maxx came over to get a sharpie and ruffled my hair again and I freaked out djkfgh

We finally got over to Cody and said hi to him. He hugged us and thanked us for coming out and he thanked me for everything I do for them and all. And THEN he was like “I really suck at HTML…and I know you’re really good at it.” I was like oh no…what now. He asked me to code him a Tumblr theme for his personal blog. djfghkd He was like “You know what looks good! I just want something simple…black and white…with a cool banner at the top!” So, now I’m making him a theme hooray. We said bye to him and made our way to find Maxx again. He was sitting on a bench talking to some people. Brea takes the drumstick, walks up to him and puts it in his lap and is like “SIGN IT.” So, he did and he drew a picture as well. Then Brea was like “You should write your phone number on it…” and he laughed and said “I’ll text the number you gave me.” Then he was like “SWEATY HUGS FOR EVERYONE!” and hugged us all again. I was like “Yep, thanks for that.” and he goes “Sweaty hugs are the best kind of hugs.” He asked if I was going to Warped and I said we wouldn’t be in town and he was like “See you at Blink!” and Brea was like “Me too!” and he asked who all was going and I told him I was, Brea was, and my brother. And he thought I meant David so he goes “Tell your brother I said hey!” But yeah dkjghdflgjd Then he hugged us again and we left since we couldn’t find the other guys.

This morning while I was at my yearbook meeting I got a Tweet from Maxx and he said that he lost my number and he wanted me to direct message it to him. I was too excited to dm him because I wasn’t home. So I asked if I could just tweet it to him and he was like “sure! but then the world will have your number. haha” and I didn’t care I wanted him to text me or skdghkdfjh whatever. So, I just tweeted it to him but he never replied so I deleted it and told him if I was going to dm it to him he’d have to follow me and he just goes “ I already got it! :)” and I died.

We went to our Grandparents today also, and I brought all of the stuff I got last night with me. My Aunt was like “So, what’s new Jessie?” and my Grandma goes “SHE’S IN LOVE WITH A DRUMMER!” I was like ohmygod how do you even know that djkfgkdjfg Then when my Grandpa came in the room he asked when we were going to the concert and I told him it was last night and he’s like “Ohh was the dummer there?” and I’m just like how do you people know about this I haven’t talked about him around you! And  just go “Yep! I got a drumstick!” and I showed him. And I asked him if he wanted to see a picture of Maxx and he said sure. So I showed him the one of me with him at my house jkdghkd the one where we’re hugging dfghkkdfjg and he goes “HE’S UGLY.” Broke my heart. But when we left there house he said “bye, Maxx” to me sooo dkjfghkdjfg. Yep.
